Polestar (NASDAQ: PSNY) is a publicly traded Next-Gen EV & Vehicles company founded in 2017 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Polestar, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, was established as a standalone electric performance car brand in 2017 by Volvo Cars and Geely Holding, with former Volvo design chief Thomas Ingenlath as founding CEO. It evolved from Polestar Performance, a racing and Volvo-tuning outfit Volvo acquired in 2015. Polestar sells EVs including the Polestar 2 fastback, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 SUVs, and the upcoming Polestar 5 and 6. The company went public via SPAC in 2022 and trades on Nasdaq as PSNY. In 2025 Polestar reported record retail sales of over 60,000 cars and revenue surpassing $3 billion, while raising roughly $1.2 billion in equity injections to strengthen its balance sheet; Michael Lohscheller became CEO.
