Telo Trucks, based in San Carlos, California, is developing the MT1, a mini electric pickup designed to deliver the towing and bed capacity of a mid-size truck like a Toyota Tacoma in a footprint barely longer than a compact car (about 152 inches). It is engineered to seat five adults, carry a five-foot bed expandable to eight feet, tow several thousand pounds, and offer up to roughly 350 miles of range. The company was founded by Jason Marks (CEO), Forrest North (CTO), and designer Yves Behar, and raised a $20 million Series A in September 2025 led by Yves Behar and Tesla co-founder Marc Tarpenning, with backers including Marc Benioff. Telo remains pre-production.
A bet that there is real demand for a genuinely small electric truck, countering the industry trend toward ever-larger pickups.
