Unlike venture-fueled rivals, Veo designs, manufactures, and operates its own fleet of standing and seated e-scooters, bikes, and e-bikes, and pursued a deliberate path to profitability rather than rapid scaling. The company says it reached company-wide profitability in 2020 on roughly $16 million of total funding, and it has won exclusive and large city permits including a five-year exclusive contract in Denver. Veo serves over 50 cities across North America.
Veo is the clearest proof point that shared micromobility can be profitable when an operator owns its hardware and wins exclusive city contracts instead of chasing growth on venture capital.
