Nord Quantique

Nord Quantique is a pre-revenue quantum hardware company developing superconducting qubits with integrated error correction at the physical layer. Unlike most quantum computing firms that layer error correction in software, Nord Quantique embeds bosonic error-correcting codes directly into the qubit design — a structural bet that hardware-level fault tolerance will require dramatically fewer physical qubits than software-based approaches. The company has no commercial product or revenue stream today. It is funded entirely through equity financing, having raised a $7M seed round from Investissement Québec and Quantonation in 2023. Its near-term route to revenue will likely follow one of two established patterns in the quantum subsector: selling integrated quantum processors as one-time hardware units to research labs and government customers, or offering cloud-accessible quantum compute capacity on a consumption or subscription basis. At this stage, the company's economics are entirely forward-looking. Deep-tech hardware of this kind typically requires ten figure cumulative R&D investment before reaching positive unit margins, and the path to gross margin depends on manufacturing yield, qubit coherence improvements, and the cost of cryogenic infrastructure — none of which Nord Quantique has publicly characterized.
