Michael J. Biercuk
Biercuk holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD from Harvard, and conducted postdoctoral research in the Ion Storage Group at NIST Boulder before joining the University of Sydney, where he is Professor of Quantum Physics and Quantum Technology and director of the Quantum Control Laboratory. He served as a full-time technical consultant to DARPA, advising on quantum information investments. In 2017 he founded Q-CTRL as the first spinout from Sydney's Quantum Science Group, attracting investment from Sequoia Capital and Main Sequence Ventures. Q-CTRL's AI-driven quantum control software suppresses hardware errors across gate-based and sensing platforms.
