Qilimanjaro

Forn-Díaz earned his PhD from TU Delft (2010) in Professor Hans Mooij's group, studying superconducting flux qubits. He then completed postdoctoral fellowships in cold atoms at Caltech (Kimble group) and in superconducting circuits at IQC Waterloo. In 2017 he returned to Barcelona to set up a quantum computing program at IFAE and co-founded Qilimanjaro alongside Latorre, Garcia-Saez, and others to develop coherent quantum annealers. He serves as the company's Chief Hardware Architect and leads the Quantum Group at IFAE.

Canivell is a co-founder of Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and contributes to the company's business development and strategic direction. Qilimanjaro, founded in 2021 in Barcelona, builds coherent quantum annealer hardware targeted at combinatorial optimization problems for near-term industrial applications, with hardware development rooted in research from IFAE and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.

Latorre is a theoretical physicist and full professor at the University of Barcelona, known for foundational contributions to quantum information theory including entanglement in quantum field theories and quantum algorithms. He co-founded Qilimanjaro in 2021 after co-organizing the quantum computing program at IFAE with Pol Forn-Díaz. He also served as Director of the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) in Singapore, where he led a major international research hub.

Blasco co-founded Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech in 2021, bringing HPC and computing infrastructure expertise to the team. His background spans high-performance computing and technology management. At Qilimanjaro he contributes to integrating the company's coherent quantum annealing hardware with classical supercomputing infrastructure.

Garcia Sáez is a researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and co-founder of Qilimanjaro, where he contributes quantum algorithm and software expertise. His research focuses on tensor network methods and quantum simulation. He was part of the group at IFAE and BSC that co-founded Qilimanjaro in 2021 to build full-stack coherent quantum annealing hardware for near-term optimization use cases.
