Quantum Brilliance

Luo brings 20 years of experience bridging frontier science and commercial scale. Before co-founding Quantum Brilliance in 2019, he served as New Ventures Manager for CSIRO's ON Program — Australia's largest national accelerator for entrepreneurial scientists — and previously worked in global private capital at QIC and in technology investment banking at Credit Suisse. As CEO since 2023 (having previously served as COO), he led the installation of the world's first room-temperature quantum computer in a supercomputing center, and built the company's partnership with NVIDIA for hybrid quantum-classical computing.

Doherty holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and is a Senior Fellow and lecturer at the Australian National University's Laser Physics Centre, where his research focuses on optical defects in semiconductors for quantum technology. His PhD thesis developed the first self-consistent theory of the nitrogen-vacancy (NV) colour centre in diamond — the foundational result for Quantum Brilliance's room-temperature qubit technology — and was awarded the ANU Chancellor's Prize for Excellence. He is internationally recognised as a pioneer of diamond quantum technologies and received the Conspicuous Service Medal for developing Australia's Army quantum technology strategy.

Horsley is a physicist and co-founder of Quantum Brilliance who contributes expertise in quantum sensing and NV-center measurement techniques. His research background covers precision measurement, magnetometry, and the experimental characterization of diamond defect centres. He co-founded Quantum Brilliance in 2019 to commercialize diamond-based room-temperature quantum processors — systems that leverage NV centres in synthetic diamond to operate without the cryogenic cooling required by competing qubit modalities, enabling deployable quantum hardware in edge and mobile environments.
