QuEra Computing

Lukin is the Joshua and Beth Friedman University Professor in Physics at Harvard and co-director of the Harvard Quantum Initiative. His laboratory pioneered the use of neutral atom arrays for quantum computation — proposing the concept in the early 2000s and later demonstrating a 256-qubit programmable quantum simulator, a milestone that underpins QuEra's platform. In December 2023, a Harvard team he led published in Nature the first logical quantum processor demonstrating 48 error-corrected logical qubits executing hundreds of gate operations. He co-founded QuEra in 2018 to commercialize this technology.

Vuletić earned his Physics Diploma from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and a PhD (summa cum laude) in 1997, followed by postdoctoral work with Nobel laureate Steven Chu at Stanford as a Humboldt Lynen Fellow. He is a Professor of Physics at MIT and a world authority on atomic, molecular, and optical physics, with groundbreaking contributions to neutral atom quantum control. He co-founded QuEra in 2018 and serves as CTO, applying his MIT research on large-scale coherent neutral atom arrays — in September 2025, his team published a demonstration of a 3,000-qubit coherent neutral-atom system.

Greiner is a Professor of Physics at Harvard University renowned for pioneering quantum gas microscopy — a technique for imaging and manipulating individual atoms in optical lattices with single-site resolution. His group has used these tools to observe quantum phase transitions, simulate condensed matter models, and develop the atom-level control capabilities that underpin neutral-atom quantum computing. He co-founded QuEra in 2018 and his lab continues to collaborate on advancing the neutral-atom hardware platform.

Englund is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, where his research spans quantum photonics, integrated photonic circuits, and diamond spin-photon interfaces. He has made seminal contributions to the design of photonic crystal cavities for coupling single photons to quantum emitters and to scalable photonic quantum networking. He co-founded QuEra in 2018, contributing expertise in photonic interconnects and photon-mediated entanglement schemes that complement the neutral-atom compute hardware.

Gemelke co-founded QuEra in 2018 and serves as Chief Technology Strategist, shaping the company's long-term technical roadmap across hardware, error correction, and algorithms. His research background is in ultracold atoms and atomic physics, with expertise in trapping, cooling, and manipulating neutral atoms using optical tweezers. He plays a central role in translating advances from collaborating academic laboratories at Harvard and MIT into QuEra's roadmap for scalable, error-corrected neutral-atom quantum computation.
