Xanadu

Weedbrook is an Australian physicist who earned his PhD in quantum information theory at the University of Queensland and completed postdoctoral research at MIT. He founded Cipher Q, a quantum security startup, in 2014 before pivoting to photonic quantum computing with the founding of Xanadu in Toronto in 2016. Xanadu builds photonic quantum computers using entangled laser pulses as qubits, operating at room temperature. The company developed the PennyLane open-source quantum machine learning library, published four breakthrough papers in Nature, and has filed for a public listing to fund construction of the world's first quantum data center.
