Krste Asanović
Holds a Ph.D. in computer science from UC Berkeley (1998). Joined MIT's faculty after his doctorate, receiving tenure in 2005, then returned to Berkeley in 2007 where he is now Professor Emeritus. Led the Berkeley RISC-V project, co-creating the RISC-V ISA in 2010 as an open, extensible instruction set architecture. Serves as Chief Architect at RISC-V International. Co-founded SiFive in 2015 with Yunsup Lee and Andrew Waterman to commercialize RISC-V processor IP, enabling semiconductor companies to license customizable RISC-V cores without royalties. Named ACM Fellow and IEEE Fellow.
