ADT traces its security business to 1874, when American District Telegraph was formed, and is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. It sells and installs burglar and life-safety alarms, smart cameras and home automation systems, and monitors them from six US monitoring centers. Customers run their systems through the ADT+ app, which ADT began rolling out with a new hardware line in the fourth quarter of 2023 and which also manages ADT Blu, a self-installed system launched on May 20, 2026. Most revenue comes from monitoring fees: in 2025, ADT reported $5.13 billion in revenue, $4.35 billion of it from monitoring and related services, across about 6.1 million monitored subscribers. In Q2 2026, it reported $1.312 billion in revenue and $360 million of recurring monthly revenue. ADT trades on the NYSE, counts State Farm, Apollo and Google among its shareholders, and carried about $7.8 billion of debt at the end of 2025. In February 2026, it agreed to buy Wi-Fi sensing developer Origin AI for $170 million in cash.
