Govee was founded in 2017 by Wu Wenlong (also known as Eric Wu), a former core team member and CTO at Anker Innovations who left to build his own smart-home brand. The company is operated under parent Shenzhen Intellirocks Tech Co., Ltd., with its brand presence run from Hong Kong, and it focuses on affordable, design-forward smart lighting sold heavily through online channels. Govee popularized addressable RGBIC light strips, where independent control chips let a single strip display multiple colors and flowing effects at once. Its catalog spans permanent outdoor lighting for year-round installation, ambient TV and gaming backlights that sync to on-screen content via camera, and a broad range of bulbs, lamps, and fixtures, typically positioned below premium rivals on price. After beginning IPO counseling with CICC as advisor in 2025, Govee has filed an IPO prospectus disclosing 2025 revenue of RMB 4.70 billion (about $693 million), up 20.6%, with the company profitable and lighting accounting for 88.5% of revenue.
