Philips Hue

Philips Hue launched in 2012 as the first mainstream consumer smart-lighting system and remains the category's premium leader. It is the flagship connected-lighting brand of Signify, the world's largest lighting company, which was carved out of Royal Philips and listed on Euronext Amsterdam as Philips Lighting in May 2016 before renaming to Signify in 2018. The Hue range spans color and white bulbs, light strips, lamps, and outdoor fixtures that run on low-power Zigbee through the Hue Bridge, with Matter support extending compatibility across Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings; the brand has since pushed beyond lighting into security with the Hue Secure camera-and-alarm system. Signify named As Tempelman CEO in September 2025, succeeding longtime chief executive Eric Rondolat, and reported €5.8 billion in sales for 2025, down 8.4%; on February 4, 2026 it announced a portfolio review of its divisions, with the consumer business that houses Hue flagged for possible divestiture.
