Axiom Space
Axiom Space is an In-Space Infrastructure & Servicing company founded in 2016 and based in Houston, United States. It has raised $830M in total funding, most recently an Equity & debt in 2026.
Founded in 2016 by former NASA ISS program manager Michael Suffredini and entrepreneur Kam Ghaffarian, Houston-based Axiom Space is building Axiom Station, a set of commercial modules that will initially attach to the International Space Station and later detach to form a free-flying station after the ISS retires. Axiom has flown multiple fully private astronaut missions to the ISS beginning with Ax-1 in 2022 and also develops the AxEMU spacesuit for NASA's Artemis program. In February 2026 it raised $350 million in a mix of equity and debt co-led by Type One Ventures and the Qatar Investment Authority, reportedly valuing the company above $2.5 billion. Axiom has cycled through several CEOs, with solar physicist Dr. Jonathan Cirtain appointed CEO in October 2025.
Axiom is the most operationally proven private-astronaut and station operator, already flying commercial crews to the ISS while it builds its own successor station.
