Cher Wang
Earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981, then joined First International Computer (FIC) in 1982, instrumental in driving that business unit into the lucrative motherboard market. Co-founded VIA Technologies in 1987, which went on to supply around half of the global PC market with core logic chipsets, then co-founded HTC in 1997. Under her leadership, HTC was one of the first companies to develop Android-powered devices, introducing the HTC Dream, the first Android smartphone in 2008. In March 2015, took over the CEO role from Peter Chou and returned to the day-to-day operations of HTC, later resuming CEO in 2020 to refocus HTC's vision, pivoting toward virtual reality and IoT. Built her companies on the core tenet of relentless innovation by persistently striving to go beyond boundaries.
