Drew Perkins
Graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and mathematics, where he created the CMU PC/IP software package and was lead author of the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), the standard that enabled early dial-up internet access. Served as principal architect at FORE Systems from 1993–1997, which sold for $4.5 billion, then built a career in optical networking: co-founded Lightera Networks, acquired by Ciena for over $500 million; co-founded OnFiber Communications, acquired by Qwest; and co-founded and served as CTO of Infinera, which developed the world's first large-scale photonic integrated circuits and IPO'd before being sold to Nokia for $2.3 billion in 2025. Co-founded Mojo Vision in 2015, transitioned to Chairman in April 2023, and now also leads Eridu, an AI networking startup that raised $200 million in Series A.
