Arjun Nagendran
Earned a Ph.D. in Robotics from the University of Manchester, specializing in landing mechanisms for Unmanned Air Vehicles, and led the ground vehicle robotic system for Team Tumbleweed, a finalist at the UK Ministry of Defense Grand Challenge. Moved to the U.S. in 2009–2010 as a Post-Doctoral Researcher focusing on Computer Vision, VR and Robotics, then became Research Assistant Professor at the Institute for Simulation and Training at University of Central Florida under Drs. Greg Welch and Charles Hughes. Later academic work focused on bridging virtual reality and robotics to impact social behavior in people. Six years of research yielded patents and secured funding from the U.S. DOD, NSF, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, eventually leading to the founding of Mursion in 2015. Stepped down after a nine-year tenure developing human-labeled analytics for interpersonal interaction that resulted in a Nature publication.
