The company runs benefit-sharing biodiscovery partnerships across multiple continents to sample novel organisms and assemble BaseData, a proprietary biological database purpose-built for training generative AI foundation models in biology. In June 2025 it announced the discovery of over one million new species and billions of new protein sequences, positioning BaseData as far larger than public databases and as data infrastructure for protein design and drug discovery.
It is building the ethically-sourced training data layer beneath generative protein models, where data scarcity, not algorithms, is the binding constraint.
