Cauldron

Based in Orange, New South Wales, Cauldron is a precision-fermentation scale-up founded by CEO Michele Stansfield, who developed its continuous-fermentation technology over years in the sector, including as general manager at Agritechnology. The company's 'hyper-fermentation' platform combines a novel bioreactor design with a proprietary growth-medium formulation to run fermentation continuously for long stretches rather than in discrete batches, which it says yields a 30-50% reduction in cost of goods. Cauldron reported running a 10,000-litre system continuously for more than eight months without contamination or genetic drift, demonstrating the technology at industrially relevant scale. It has raised roughly AU$20M across a seed round and Series A, with backers including Main Sequence and Horizons Ventures; co-founder and CFO David Kestenbaum joined from ZX Ventures.
