Jaroslaw Kutylowski was born in Poland, began coding at age ten, and holds a PhD in Computer Science with an emphasis on mathematics from a German university. He worked at Vodafone and Andagon GmbH before joining Linguee as CTO in 2012, where he led technology development and began researching neural-network applications for machine translation. In 2016 he started building what became the DeepL Translator using Linguee's massive bilingual dataset; DeepL launched publicly in 2017 and Kutylowski became CEO of DeepL SE in 2019, scaling it into the world's most accurate neural machine translation platform.
