Klemen Simonic
Klemen Simonic studied at the University of Ljubljana and completed research internships at Stanford in 2009 and 2011, working with Prof. Jure Leskovec on community detection in large social networks. After an internship at Google in 2014, he joined Meta (then Facebook) in 2015 to build speech recognition systems now used across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. In 2020 he co-founded Soniox with Ambroz Bizjak, pioneering self-supervised speech AI that trains on unlabeled audio and text rather than expensive human-transcribed data, enabling 60-plus-language transcription and real-time multilingual translation.
