Matt Hocking holds a BDesign and Technology in Industrial and Graphic Design from Western Sydney University and has over 20 years of product and design leadership. He led international expansion of Shillington Education from Australia into Europe and the US, worked as an early product lead at Chime and MetMoi, and co-founded Ghostruck as Chief Product Officer. In 2018 he joined the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) as Entrepreneur in Residence, where he met Michael Petrochuk and spun out WellSaid Labs. He served as CEO until January 2024, when he transitioned to Executive Chairman.

Michael Petrochuk studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Washington (2013–2017) and completed internships at Lattice.io (working on Siri question-answering), Google (data-driven response modeling), and Uber. He joined the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) as CTO-in-Residence in 2018, where he collaborated with Matt Hocking and the AI2 research community to validate speech synthesis as a startup opportunity. Together they founded WellSaid Labs in 2018, with Petrochuk serving as CTO and leading the development of the company's high-fidelity AI voice platform.
