Omi

Built by San Francisco-based Based Hardware and led by Thiel Fellow Nik Shevchenko, Omi is an open-source AI wearable that listens to and processes the wearer's conversations to build a searchable memory and run real-world AI agents. The compact pendant transcribes speech in real time across many languages, creates tasks synced to productivity apps, and surfaces personalized context, while its open-source platform lets developers build apps and choose their own AI models. Omi differentiates on privacy, marketing HIPAA compliance and the option to store information locally on the device. The company raised a $2M round in January 2025 with backing from Tim Draper, and grew from a developer device into a consumer model priced under $100.
