Sky Labs has done something no consumer wearable giant has managed: pushed cuffless blood-pressure measurement all the way through medical approval, insurance reimbursement, and — as of May 2026 — inclusion in official clinical guidelines. The 2026 Korean Society of Hypertension guidelines formally incorporated its ring-type CART BP pro as a tool for out-of-office blood-pressure measurement, the first cuffless device anywhere to enter formal hypertension guidance, capping a run that began with Korean medical-device approval in 2023 and 24-hour ambulatory-monitoring reimbursement in 2024. Adoption evidence is unusually hard: CART BP pro is in clinical use at 38 tertiary general hospitals including all of Korea's "Big Five," roughly 81% of the country's tertiary hospitals. The product ladder now spans the entire measurement continuum — the consumer CART BP ring launched in 2025 (about $392 in Korea), CART BP pro for outpatient prescription, and CART ON, launched February 2026 as the first ring-based ward-monitoring solution feeding blood-pressure data automatically into nurse-station dashboards and hospital EMRs. Hypertension is the world's most prevalent chronic condition, single-point cuff readings are a famously poor window into it, and a finger-worn ring that captures day-and-night pressure is the clinically obvious answer if accuracy holds — Sky Labs' device met ISO 81060 accuracy criteria against standard ambulatory monitoring. With CE-MDR clearance in hand for European entry, roughly $40M raised including a Korea Development Bank-led Series C, and Apple and Samsung still unable to ship validated cuffless BP, Sky Labs holds a several-year regulatory head start in the biggest unclaimed prize in wearable health.

Sky Labs' moat is deep but one country wide. Every hard proof point — approval, reimbursement, guideline inclusion, the Big Five hospital penetration — is Korean, a market whose single-payer structure, compact hospital system, and government enthusiasm for domestic medtech make it an unusually friendly launchpad that predicts little about the US or Europe. International hypertension bodies remain pointedly skeptical of cuffless measurement — European and US validation frameworks for cuffless devices are still unsettled, and even the landmark Korean guideline inclusion carries a Class IIb recommendation, the "may be considered" tier, not an endorsement of equivalence to cuff-based monitoring. Entering Western markets means new clinical trials, new regulatory dossiers, and payer negotiations that routinely consume more than the roughly $40M Sky Labs has raised in its lifetime — a total that is a rounding error against the R&D budgets Samsung (which has pushed BP features in its home Korean market for years) and Apple are aiming at the same problem, with the distribution of hundreds of millions of wrists and fingers already served. The KDB-led Series C reads as policy capital rather than global growth validation, and no announced round since suggests the war chest for US entry does not yet exist. Meanwhile the consumer ring segment it launched into in 2025 is a knife fight — Oura's patent aggression, Samsung's bundling, Ultrahuman's pricing — where a $392 single-market device with a clinical brand has no evident consumer marketing engine. A world-first guideline listing is a superb headline; converting it into revenue outside Korea before better-funded players catch up is the entire, unproven, game.
