Northrop Grumman's Mission Robotic Vehicle launched with two robotic arms and a Pentagon brief to service satellites in orbit, but those same manipulators could disable or destroy adversary assets without the debris field of a kinetic strike. No one has tested this capability in orbit before, which means the U.S. is now operationalizing proximity warfare in space—a counterspace strategy that sidesteps the Kessler cascade problem and rewrites the rules for orbital engagement.
