WeRide becomes first Chinese robotaxi operator in the Nordics
WeRide just launched autonomous taxi service in Denmark, partnering with local EV car-sharing leader GreenMobility. Instead of shipping its own fleet, the company is installing its self-driving software into GreenMobility's existing electric vehicles, which means it can start service quickly without the capital burden of building infrastructure from scratch. Denmark is a deliberate stress-test: if WeRide can navigate narrow roads, dark winters, stringent European regulation, and high operating costs, it proves Chinese autonomy can export beyond friendly markets. This is the first time a Chinese robotaxi operator has entered the Nordic region, and success here would signal that the technology is ready for Europe's toughest environments.
