Meta claims its new AI models match Anthropic and OpenAI
Meta says its newest AI models have reached the same level as the best systems from Anthropic and OpenAI. That matters because Anthropic's Claude had held a clear lead for some time, especially at writing computer code, and that lead was a big part of its appeal to developers. If the claim holds up, three or four companies are now effectively tied at the top, which means being smartest is no longer enough to win. The contest shifts toward price, the quality of the tools around the model, and which product developers get used to reaching for first. The claim comes from a single report and is Meta's own, so independent testing will tell us how real the parity is.
