Uber's partnership with Zipline sets the first credible commercial target for autonomous logistics: one million drone deliveries per day in the United States by the end of 2029. Zipline has spent years flying medical supplies over Rwanda and Ghana, proving the technology works where roads fail. Now it is bringing that same capability to Uber Eats, which already moves billions of dollars of goods annually. The partnership matters because it gives autonomous logistics a real distribution channel and a path to unit economics that don't depend on subsidies or pilots. If Uber can make drone delivery cheaper and faster than cars or bikes, the entire last-mile infrastructure stack is up for renegotiation.
