Founded in Paris in 2014, Ledger is the leading maker of hardware crypto wallets, secure-element devices that keep users' private keys offline for self-custody. Its Nano and Stax/Flex device lines pair with the Ledger Live software app for managing, swapping, and staking assets, and the company also offers Ledger Enterprise for institutional custody. Ledger raised a roughly €100M round in 2023 (valuing it near €1.3B) and a $380M Series C in 2021. The company has sold more than 7 million devices and secures over $100 billion in assets. After record hardware-wallet revenue in 2025 it explored a US IPO targeting a valuation above $4B — working with Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, and Barclays, and hiring former Circle executive John Andrews as CFO in March 2026 — but paused the IPO plans in May 2026, citing market conditions.
