Alex Gluchowski is a software architect who earned a Master's in computer science from the Technical University of Berlin and spent over 15 years in engineering and startups. Before crypto he held senior engineering roles in Germany and co-founded PaulCamper, an RV-sharing marketplace, and led Ethereum-focused R&D at Entropy Labs in Hong Kong. He co-founded Matter Labs in Berlin in 2018 to scale Ethereum with zero-knowledge proofs, and serves as CEO, leading development of the ZKsync rollup and the Elastic Network of interoperable ZK chains.
Alexandr Vlasov is a co-founder of Matter Labs and serves as the company's head of R&D. He has a background in physics and electrical engineering and deep expertise in cryptography and zk-SNARK construction. He met Alex Gluchowski around 2018 and joined in founding Matter Labs to build ZKsync, focusing on the efficient cryptographic and proving systems that underpin the company's zero-knowledge scaling technology.

ZKsync Era is a zero-knowledge EVM rollup that scales Ethereum by executing transactions off-chain and posting succinct validity (zk) proofs back to the Ethereum mainnet, so users get lower fees and fast finality while inheriting Ethereum-grade security. It is EVM-compatible, letting Solidity developers deploy contracts with familiar tooling, and supports account abstraction and native paymasters that allow fees to be paid in tokens other than ETH. It serves DeFi, payments, and consumer applications that need cheap, trust-minimized Ethereum settlement.
The Elastic Network is Matter Labs' framework for an ecosystem of interconnected ZK-powered chains — ZK Chains — that can be launched by different teams while sharing standardized interoperability and trust-minimized bridging. Each chain settles via validity proofs to Ethereum and can communicate with the others natively, so liquidity and users are not stranded as the ecosystem fragments across many rollups. The aim is to let projects spin up sovereign, customizable ZK chains that still feel like one elastic, horizontally scalable network.
