Formo's animal-free cheese alternatives made using koji protein produced through fermentation, launched in European retail under names including Frischhain. The products are designed to deliver the taste, texture and meltability of conventional cheese without using cows, and rolled out across thousands of supermarket locations including REWE, BILLA and METRO stores in Germany and Austria. Formo markets the line as a challenger to traditional dairy cheese, pairing the koji-protein approach with longer-term development of precision-fermented dairy milk proteins for future products.
