Battery Ventures was founded in Boston in 1983 by Rick Frisbie, Howard Anderson and Bob Barrett. The firm invests across stages — from seed and venture rounds to private-equity buyouts — in application software, infrastructure, industrial tech and life-science tools. Battery has invested in more than 530 companies, roughly 70 of which have gone public, and closed its fifteenth flagship fund at $3.25 billion in February 2026.
