Blackbird Ventures

Blackbird Ventures was founded in Sydney in 2012 by Niki Scevak and Rick Baker with an initial AU$30 million fund, and has grown into the largest venture firm in Australia and New Zealand, raising a record A$1 billion fund in 2022. The firm invests from pre-seed onward and is known for following on across every round of its winners — most famously Canva, which it backed from the first round. Its portfolio spans software, deep tech and frontier companies including Zoox, SafetyCulture and Culture Amp.
