Damion Shelton
Earned a BS in Bioengineering and a BA in History & Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by an MS and PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University (2007). Before Agility, co-founded threeRivers 3D and served as its CTO, designing a low-cost, high-volume laser scanner for novice users in healthcare. Co-founded Agility Robotics in 2015 as a spin-out from Oregon State University's DARPA-funded legged locomotion research. Led the company as CEO for nine years, stepping into the President role in 2024 and transitioning to Chairman in 2025. Described as a "jack-of-all-trades roboticist" who deliberately left academia to build shippable products rather than proofs-of-concept — a pragmatism that shaped Agility's early focus on a commercially deployable biped over a lab demonstrator.
