Apptronik
Apptronik is an Austin, Texas-based humanoid robotics company spun out of the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. Its flagship product Apollo is a 5'8", 160-pound bipedal humanoid with a 55-pound payload designed for logistics, manufacturing, and 3PL use cases including trailer unloading, case picking, palletization, and machine tending.
The company has rapidly commercialized through partnerships with Mercedes-Benz (initial pilots at Mercedes' Berlin Digital Factory Campus), GXO Logistics (multi-phase R&D deployment), and Jabil (manufacturing partner and end-customer). In December 2024, Apptronik announced a strategic collaboration with Google DeepMind's robotics team to combine Apollo with Gemini Robotics foundation models.
Apptronik raised a $350M initial Series A in February 2025 co-led by B Capital and Capital Factory with Google participation, followed by a $520M Series A extension in February 2026 at a $5B valuation with existing investors (B Capital, Google, Mercedes-Benz, PEAK6) and new investors (AT&T Ventures, John Deere, Qatar Investment Authority). Total Series A exceeded $935M, bringing cumulative capital raised to roughly $1B.
Apptronik is Tesla Optimus's most credible US commercial humanoid competitor, with real customer pilots and a Google DeepMind foundation-model partnership that sets it apart on the software side.
