Collaborative Robotics

Collaborative Robotics (Cobot) is a Santa Clara, California-based mobile manipulation company founded in 2022 by Brad Porter, the former Vice President and Distinguished Engineer at Amazon Robotics who scaled Amazon's robot fleet past 500,000 units, and previously CTO at Scale AI. The company builds Proxie, a wheeled mobile manipulator cobot designed to handle real-world material-handling tasks alongside humans in unstructured environments rather than caged industrial cells. Cobot publicly launched Proxie in November 2024 after operating largely in stealth, with early customers including Maersk, Mayo Clinic, Moderna, Owens & Minor, and Tampa General Hospital. The company has raised more than $140M to date across seed, Series A, and a $100M Series B in April 2024 led by General Catalyst at a valuation north of $500M, with Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Lux Capital, Bison Ventures, Industry Ventures, Mayo Clinic, Neo, 1984 Ventures, MVP Ventures, and Calibrate Ventures participating. The team is heavily ex-Amazon Robotics, with additional senior hires from Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, NASA, and Waymo. Cobot opened a Seattle AI office in 2024 to anchor its model and autonomy work alongside its Bay Area hardware base.
Cobot is the most credible non-humanoid challenger in general-purpose mobile manipulation — betting that a wheeled, human-aware cobot reaches commercial scale in hospitals and warehouses years before bipedal humanoids do.
