Fixed-wing medical drone weighing 44 pounds (20 kg) that can carry up to 4 pounds (1.8 kg) of cargo , Zipline's original long-range delivery platform optimized for remote areas. Launched via catapult from custom hubs and weighing about 20 kg, the aircraft cruises at over 100 km/h at altitudes between 80–120 meters . While capable of flying 300 km on a charge, operations are limited to destinations within 80 km (50 mi) for reliability . Returns to the distribution center via tail-hook arresting gear, similar to aircraft carrier landings . First deployed in Muhanga, Rwanda in late 2016 , Platform 1 has become the backbone of Zipline's medical logistics network across Africa and beyond.
A small autonomous package-delivery unit lowered on a tether from a hovering parent drone, equipped with thrusters and sensors to navigate to a delivery area of just one meter in diameter while carrying 2.5–3.5 kilogram payloads. Designed for home delivery of food, retail goods, and health products in dense urban areas across the U.S. Unlike Zipline's Platform 1—which parachutes packages—the droid uses visual sensors to find delivery sites and thrusters to compensate for wind and drone movement, enabling drops to outdoor spaces with 16-kilometer service radius. Launched in 2025 in Pea Ridge, Arkansas and Dallas–Fort Worth with Walmart and restaurant partners.
Autonomous logistics network with over 100 million miles flown, comprising two delivery services—Platform 1 for long-range and rural deliveries, and Platform 2 for urban home delivery. Both utilize autonomous electric delivery drones known as Zips. The network delivers to more than 5,000 hospitals and health centers and has become a key part of healthcare supply chains in Africa. P2 launched in 2025 in Pea Ridge, Arkansas and more than 20 communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with Walmart.
