Darshan Shankar
Graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science in 2010, then joined Y Combinator's Winter 2011 class with Flotype, raising $1.4 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, and Salesforce Ventures to build an API simplifying real-time messaging for cloud and mobile applications. Founded Bigscreen in 2014, initially as a VR software platform with millions of users before pivoting to hardware with the 127-gram Bigscreen Beyond headset in 2023. Raised backing from True Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. His experience building distributed real-time systems at Flotype informed Bigscreen's multi-user telepresence architecture.
